This, my friends, is the lovely Slytherin scarf I am knitting for my friend. It's the Yarn Harlot's One Row Scarf. I was originally just going to stripe it in blocks, like you see in the movies, but then I decided to stripe it randomly. And then my mom told me about this sock book she got where the woman talks about knittin striped socks using the Fibonacci Sequence, which is a math thing I vaguely remembered from freshman year Algebra. the sequence starts with the numbers 1 and 1. The way it works it that you take the last two numbers and add them together to get the next. So it goes 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, etc. Mine only stops at 8. Then I do 8 in the other color and work back towards 1. It's really fun, actually, and all my kntting friends tell me that the stripes look cool. Then I explain the number sequence and they go all wide-eyed (except for the math-major friend and all-around geek friend, who understood me).

Work has decided to dick me over and instead of the split-shift I was talked to about, I'm getting moved to a local elementary school's after-school program (run by us) from 3-6 five days a week. I'm back to my fifteen hours. My boss knows that I need more than that, and she's told me that she knows, but here she is telling me that since I ride my bike all the time, the school is closer for me to get to, especially in the winter if it snows. So now, even though I really like my job, I'm on the hunt for a new one. It pisses me off.

I'm writing more of my story lately, and my reading has slackened off some. My knitting has picked up, too, if you couldn't tell by the scarf. I'm really proud of it, actually, and I'm trying to decide if I should fringe the ends or not. Hm.

Live it up. Go with the fringe.

Ohh, yes. Let there be fringe. And maybe something sparkly. Mom's right, live a little.
